Portable Raman analyzer

The analyzer relies on a robust enhancement mechanism, by which blue pump light and Raman scattered light from hydrogen reflect a great number of times in a multipass cavity to dramatically improve detection sensitivity.

Portable Raman Analyzer Detects Hydrogen Leaks from a Distance

Prof. Andreas Muller and Ph.D. student Charuka Muktha Arachchige report on the development of a versatile and portable sensor for trace amounts of hydrogen gas, with exceptional sensitivity (down to the parts-per-billion level), suitable for monitoring hydrogen leaks in the field and enhancing safety in the production, storage, transportation and utilization of hydrogen.
