Address Updates
US address updates are now made in iStart through the
New Students
- You must report your physical address to USF as soon as you enter the US. USF cannot register your I-20/DS-2019 until we receive a valid local address.
- If you are staying at a temporary address, for example: a hotel or with friends or family, please report that address.
- DO NOT report foreign addresses, PO Boxes, USF Boxes, or USF Departmental addresses.
- DO NOT use USF's address (4204 E Fowler Ave) or your North/ South Campus Mail Center address.
Sample US Address for an Apartment:

Continuing Students
- You are required to report changes to your local address to USF within 10 days of any change.
Note: You do not need to change your local address when you leave the US for vacation.
Reporting your Local Address and Phone Number to OIS
Your local address and phone number (for SEVIS purposes) is maintained through iStart.
The address you provide to us in iStart will be reported to the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) where it will be checked for validity and proper formatting.
- Login to and go to Immigration Updates on the left menu. You will choose the Update Local Address & Phone Number E-Form:
Important Local Address Notes:
- Your local address is the address at which you currently physically reside within the United States.
- If you reside on campus, enter the address that corresponds to your physical location and confirm the address at the . The address should be where you would instruct a delivery driver to deliver food. Do not enter your mailing address.
- If you are staying at a temporary address, for example: a hotel or with friends and family, please use that address.
- DO NOT use foreign addresses, PO Boxes, USF Boxes, or USF Departmental addresses.
- Please use the example below as a guide for entering your address in the correct format.
123 Main St = Street Address
#12 = Apartment Number (apartment complex name not needed)
Tampa, FL 33560 = City, State, Postal Code
Avoid Common Mistakes:
- DO NOT include your name or the name of your appartment complex, neighborhood, hotel, etc in the Physical Street Address line
- DO NOT include your residence hall name or room number in the Physical Street Address line
- DO NOT separate street number and street name on different Address Lines
Reporting a New Mailing Address to USF
Note: For receiving mail from the university you will need to update Student Self-Service (formerly OASIS) in the "Mailing Address" address type. You can watch the following video of how to update in Student Self Sevice:
Phone Number Updates
It is very important that we have your properly formatted current local US phone number. If you need to update either phone number, you will also go to the Update Local Address & Phone Number E-Form.
Local Phone Number (Domestic) Requirements
- Enter ONLY the 10 digit phone number (the three digit area code plus the seven digit local phone number, Ex. 8137001234). DO NOT enter +1 or any other country code.
- DO NOT enter dashes or other special characters.
Foreign Phone Number (Non-US)
International numbers are still currently held in Student Self Service if you need to edit or add a Non-US Mobile Phone or Landline/VOIP in this field:
- International Access Code and Phone Number: exactly as it would be dialed from within the U.S. (Ex. 491231234567). DO NOT enter any part of the foreign phone number in the area code, phone number, or extension fields.
